Alex Meffe DMCHS 2022Congratulations to Alex Meffe, Grade 12, Class of 2022 who was recently recognized at the Thorold Runway of Recognition dinner. He was presented with the White Family Foundation Scholarship and the TAAA Moses Anthony Memorial Scholarship for his commitment and volunteer work through Thorold hockey. Well done!

Niagara athletes ready to rock in Week 2 of Games

BPSports 06052022 dmchsThe second week of competition at the Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games will see a high volume of Niagara athletes hoping to stand atop the podium.

Nikola Mitrovic and Kennedy Millin play for Team Ontario in volleyball, while track and field athletes include Grace Tennant, Shannon Swinson, Trinity Tutti, Noah Dommasch and Owen Konkle. Matthew Martel will hit the greens in golf, while the not-surprisingly substantial roster of rowers from Niagara includes: Owen Bartel, Payton Gauthier, Stephen Harris, Shane Keagan, Hailey Mercuri, Teagan Orth, Nikolas Schramm, Kai Bartel, Riley Pisek, Cait Whittard, Nicholas Murray-Coplan, Malarie Jones, Madeson Scott, Stella Bittman and Lucas Maroney.

DM Grad: No day at the beach for A’s

bpsports dmchs 052622Austin Paddy’s patience has finally paid off.

The 21-year-old St. Catharines native finally cracked the roster for the St. Catharines WMKL Athletics after biding his time for the last few seasons.

“I’ve waited almost three years with all the COVID stuff to get my first junior win, so when I actually got to go out and play and get that first win it meant the world to me,” Paddy said.

The graduate of Denis Morris was part of the A’s Ontario championship squad last season but didn’t see any action.
