It was a manic Monday for Joshua Kaufman.
The 18-year-old, Grade 12B student poured in a game-high 21 points as the Denis Morris Reds defeated the Thorold Golden Eagles 72-57 in opening round action at the 60th Annual Standard High School Basketball Tournament.
“It felt awesome,” Kaufman said. “There was lots of energy in the gym and it was really exciting.”

Niagara athletes brought home two medals from the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations cross country meet held at Centennial Park in Etobicoke.
T.J. Woods of Denis Morris won a silver medal in the novice boys division and Sir Winston Churchill’s junior boys team (Simon Dobrovolski, Barron Walker, Jackson Mead, Julian Cirasuoio and Carson Walker) won a bronze medal.

Things are looking up for the Denis Morris Reds senior football team.
Although the team fell 28-7 to the visiting Notre Dame Fighting Irish Thursday afternoon in Niagara Catholic Athletic Association play, the squad was competitive and didn’t get Thirty-Fived (clock starts running straight time if one team is ahead by 35 points after the half).

One game into the Niagara Catholic Athletic Association regular season and the Denis Morris Reds senior girls basketball team is already better than a season ago.
“I haven’t been the coach for the last two years but we have not won a game in the last two years,” said DM head coach Stefanie DeMizio, following a 42-19 victory over the visiting Saint Michael Mustangs Wednesday at the St. George and St. Mercurius Church gym. “This is our first win and you can see that our girls were very excited. We were ready for this one and it has been a long time in the making so it was a very good day.”
