Special Education
The Special Education Department at Denis Morris is founded upon the belief that all students can learn within the appropriate environment, with home-school-community collaboration and given the appropriate tools, resources and tiered supports and interventions. Members of the Special Education team include a Special Education Teacher, two Educational Resource Teachers, six Educational Assistants and an Interpreter.
Types of supports available to your child
Our students may receive (based on need):
- accommodations or modifications to instruction, environment or assessment
- assistive technology to access curriculum, EQAO math, OSSLT
- alternative programming to respond to social-emotional, behavioural and/or life skills
- behaviour support plans, sensory management plans
- experiential learning opportunities
- after-school homework club to build skills
- Peer Tutor support
- Access to the Relaxation Room for emotional well-being
